Isaak Argyros
Isaak Argyros was born in Thrace around 1300-1310 and lived in Constantinople. As a monk, he took part in the religious controversies of Hesychasm and wrote treatises against Gregory Palamas. His scientific work is related to the fields of astronomy, arithmetic, trigonometry and geometry.
Michael M. Sofianos
One of the first students and graduates of the Greek Military Academy in 1831. He joined the artillery Corps, in which he served for forty four years, attaing the rank of Major General. He also studied abroad and taught Higher Mathematics and Fortifications in the Greek Military Academy.
