Eirinaios Galanakis

Eirinaios Galanakis graduated from the Seminary of Crete and the Faculty of Theology of the University of Athens in 1937. He completed his postgraduate studies in Theology and Sociology in France, at the Universities of Paris and Lille. He’ s becoming Metropolitan of Kisamos and Selinos in 1962 and a Metropolitan of Germany in 1971. During his days the Orthodox Metropolis of Germany was recognized as the third official church in the country. He founded the Orthodox Academy of Crete as well as he created with the cooperation of other factors the Crete shipping company ANEK, the ET.AN.AP. ( Apokoronos Development Company ) , the Selinos Development Company and the A.N.E.N. ( Shipping Company of the South ). He was a lifelong president of the "National Research Foundation Eleftherios Venizelos " and was awarded the highest decoration of the Federal Republic of Germany .
